Description
This ceramic Venus of Willendorf figurine is a replica of most beautiful Venus from paleolithic era. This lady is a piece of art and I had a crush on her when I first saw her at the Natural History Museum, Vienna. As I sculpt the figurine I decided to add a tattoo on her scapula -not to modernize, or not to add pop effect. Just to say “It’s never too late”, she is at the age of 27.000 years!
The figurine has no pedestal/base.

History of the figurine:
The Venus of Willendorf is an 11.1-centimetre-tall (4.4 in) Venus figurine discovered in Willendorf, Austria. It is believed to have been crafted between 30,000 and 25,000 BCE, making it one of the world’s oldest known works of art. It has been suggested that she is a fertility figure, a good-luck totem, a mother goddess symbol, or an aphrodisiac made by men for the appreciation of men. The figurine is now in the Natural History Museum in Vienna, Austria.
Each sculpture is shipped inside a thick walled cardboard box with a custom-designed padding. For each object I make sure the ceramic figure is secure and not moving.
